Profit First is a cash management system that was designed by one of the greatest entrepreneurs that I know. I will not spoil anything, but Mike’s entrepreneurial journey has taken him from the highest pinnacle of success (selling his company for multiple millions and being named an SBA – Entrepreneur of the Year) to the lowest lows (declaring bankruptcy). But what he realized through that process, was the cash (and cash flow) problems in your business is often a result of mis-prioritization.

I read Profit First in 2018 (at this time, I had more than a decade of experience guiding entrepreneurs) and I remember thinking 2 questions that would change my professional career:

“This is an amazing book, why doesn’t every entrepreneur know about, and follow, this system?”

Followed quickly by:

“Why doesn’t every banker, teach their clients about this system?”

This started my journey to become a Certified Profit First Banker. It turns out that Mike established a business that certifies individuals to coach, instruct, and support enterprenerusps who need assistance in implementing the Profit First system. Typically, these professionals are accounts, bookkeepers, or coaches. I quickly realized that I was only the 2nd banker in the world to ever become certified!  

What! How is that possible?

That is just unfathomable. To make the situation even more unbelievable, the first banker ever to become Profit First certified – was not using it to help their entrepreneurs!
